Melissa Coleman-Reed

Melissa is an international theatre maker: director, actor, producer, and facilitator. She is passionately focused on the development and production of new works to expand the canon of the American theatre, by facilitating works that foster activism and grow international collaborations. She seeks to spotlight stories from communities of Color, the Queer community, and Black American Culture. Directing highlights include: The Very Best People (IAMA Theatre Company), My White Husband (Moving Arts), Intimate Apparel, Men On Boats, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters’ First One Hundred Years (all at New Village Arts Theatre). Associate director credits include: The Lonely Few (Geffen Playhouse, Trip Cullman and Ellenore Scott), and Untitled Baby Play (IAMA Theatre Company, Katie Lindsay) Other credits/honors include: I Sell Windows (Outside In Theatre and BottleTree Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe Producer); SITI Company Board Member (2024-25); SITI Company Alumni Ambassador (2023-present). Melissa was also assistant director to Jessica Kubzansky on Weston Gaylord’s world premiere of Octopus’ Garden at Boston Court Pasadena. She is a Director’s Lab West ‘26 Alum.
